🤖 Figure 02 has successfully completed a 20-hour shift on BMW's X3 production line in Spartanburg, South Carolina. This marks the first instance of a humanoid robot operating such extended hours in a real-world manufacturing environment. The robot performed tasks like retrieving metal parts and placing them onto welding fixtures with high precision. This achievement is part of BMW's iFACTORY initiative, aiming to modernize car manufacturing through automation and smart technologies. Figure 02's integration into the production line demonstrates the potential of humanoid robots to handle repetitive and physically demanding tasks, potentially transforming future automotive manufacturing processes. Researchers at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, working with Unitree Robotics, have demonstrated the world’s first full-size humanoid robot that can autonomously play interactive basketball with a human. Using HKUST’s SkillMimic framework, a CVPR 2025 highlight led by PhD student Yinhuai Wang, the Unitree H1 can dribble, shoot, pass, and react to blocks by learning directly from human demonstrations. The robot is still tethered for power and moves cautiously, but all actions are fully autonomous, with no teleoperation involved. Source: HKUST / Yinhuai Wang
Sam Altman called concerns about ChatGPT's water usage "totally fake", but still acknowledged the need to transition to other energy sources like nuclear, wind, and solar because of the increased energy demand from global AI usage. Water is totally fake. It used to be true. We used to do evaporative cooling in data centers, but now that we don't do that, you know, you see these like things on the internet where don't use Chachipi tea, it's 17 gallons of water for each query or whatever. This is completely untrue, totally insane, no connection to reality. What is fair though,
At Realbotix’s booth at the 2025 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, the company unveiled its latest humanoid companion robot named Melody, priced at US $175,000 for the full body version. Melody features lifelike facial expressions, fluid body movements and an open-source AI engine designed to “remember who you are” and engage in meaningful conversation. While marketed as a companion rather than explicitly a “sex robot,” Realbotix acknowledges adult-oriented software can be added. Source: New York Post
Whop released a GTA-style ad created entirely using AI video generation tools, specifically Google’s Veo 3. Led by creative director Harry Beechinor, the project involved no traditional filming—just AI-generated visuals, voiceovers, and camera work. The ad humorously contrasts conventional life advice with online entrepreneurship, reflecting growing interest in digital income streams among younger audiences. Its production highlights a shift in advertising, where brands are starting to use AI not just for editing, but for full video creation. The result is a fast, cost-effective campaign that resonates with internet culture while showcasing the potential of AI in commercial storytelling.
