5 years ago, I made a decision to do things differently. I found myself more in climbing an 18,000-foot mountain in Nepal, than I ever did in climbing the corporate ladder. This month I got to take @tudorwatch along for the ride. You see, checking off boxes & racing to meet the world’s expectations never seemed to lead me anywhere that lit my soul ablaze. So instead, I wondered what it would look like to step into a world of freedom, adventure, and — finally — an authentic, vibrant expression of the real Alexandra. 👉🏼 Less billable hours; more of the moments that make time seem to stand still. ⏱️ 👉🏼 Less following the status quo; more pioneering my own path forward. 🗺️ 👉🏼 Less forcing; more flowing. 🌊 👉🏼 Less schedules & agendas; more one-way tickets, open roads, unplanned itineraries. ✈️ Because here’s the thing: All we really have is time — precious, uncertain time — and what we’ll choose to do with it. ⏳ Will we follow the masses? Living to please others, fit the mold, and stay neatly within our dull, grey comfort zones? Watching the world pass us by from behind cold glass walls? Or, will we dare to do things differently… tuning out the noise, and tuning into the ticking of our internal clocks, that inner guiding compass… …the wild, untamed whispers of our intuition. One of the most important lessons I’ve learned in life is that we all get to write our own stories. YOU get to design your own timeline. YOU get to move at your own pace. You get to stand out from the crowd & take risks & make mistakes & be misunderstood… and I can promise you it’s so worth it. Your life gets to be your own bold, daring adventure. Yeah I’m down, when do we leave? 😎 I definitely don’t know the meaning of life, but I do know this is the only one I’ve got (at least that I’m aware of), so I might as well experience as much as I can while here. …I want to travel to unfamiliar places, embark on random side quests, dance until sunrise with my friends, hike tall mountain peaks, swim in the ocean until my fingers become prunes…. All my different personalities have never fit neatly into a little box — this was tough when I was younger, but now I fully embrace it. Someone DMed me the other day, broken up about recent world events, saying: “I hate it here.” 😢 I get it. There is so much evil we see on the news every day. But I reminded him that there is also so much love, hospitality, jaw-dropping beauty, and selflessness. Go climb a mountain. Go volunteer. Go create. Go somewhere in the world to tune in with real people, not technology. When I travel I get to witness evidence of love & kindness from the most diverse array of humans. Mainstream news is designed to show us the worst of the worst, the be overwhelmingly negative in order to keep us addicted and desperate to watch more. I don’t believe in sticking our heads in the sand and ignoring what is happening in the world. It’s important to stay informed and educated, to care about the suffering of others (especially those who look & live differently from us), and to feel a responsibility to make things better. 🙏🏼 But I also believe that in order to feel motivated to invest our hearts and resources into bringing about change, we must remember that the world is in fact largely good, kind, welcoming, and beautiful — and it’s something worth fighting for. ❤️🌍 . . . . . #adventuretravel #travelreels #travelgoals #solofemaletraveler
