Three years ago, @simonebiles made a bold career choice: She withdrew from competition in the Summer Olympics. At the time, many considered this to be a personal failure. “What happened to fighting through injury, working through stuff you didn’t really wanna do?” one sportscaster complained. Biles is now returning to the Olympics with a key lesson that all executive women should carry with them: professional excellence doesn’t have to come at the cost of your health, in any form. We applaud Biles’s decision to prioritize her well-being, and we’ll be cheering her on as she competes in Paris 👏
“I wish that damn thing would close.” Check out Ellevest CEO @sallie.krawcheck’s hot take on the wage gap, plus AI, the old boys club, burnout, and more.
Honored to be named one of Chief’s New Era of Leadership Award recipients, alongside 100 powerhouse women who aren’t just navigating change, they are leading it. This isn’t just my recognition. It’s a celebration of our girls, our team, and the unapologetic belief that tech should look like everyone. At Black Girls Code, we’re not returning to what was. We’re reimagining what’s possible and building a future where no one has to shrink to lead. 💫🦋 #NewEraOfLeadership #BlackGirlsCode #WhoIsCodingYourFuture
If you’ve experienced feelings of anxiety when walking into a new room or a new role, you’re not alone. According to Business Revolver’s State of Workplace Empathy Study, 55% of CEOs experience performance-related anxiety. Taking notes from her son — the inspiration for her new book, “Harlem Honey” — @tamronhall manages her own leadership anxiety by embracing a sense of curiosity. It’s almost impossible to feel anxious when you’re truly curious about the people and ideas around you, Tamron explained during an exclusive event at our New York City Clubhouse. “Curiosity brings us closer to people, which brings us closer to being better leaders.” What are your tried-and-true methods for working through anxiety?
