Hashtags USED TO BE a great way to grow on Instagram, BUT NOT ANYMORE. But don’t just take my word for it… According to Adam Mosseri, the Head of Instagram, “Hashtags do not increase reach.” — he’s said it numerous times over the last few years, including when I interviewed him earlier this year. But don’t just take HIS word for it, what do the facts say?? According to a 2025 Study from Social Pilot, posts with ZERO hashtags received an AVERAGE of 23% MORE REACH than posts with 1 or more hashtag. They also found that the more hashtags you used, the worse your reach got! So while it IS TOO LATE to use HASHTAGS to grow on Instagram, IT’S NOT TOO LATE TO GROW!!
