Happy World Diabetes Day. I don’t share this part of me often because it can be very personal… because I have days like this. Where I fail. Low to high bloodsugar from the time I wake up, to the time I go to sleep. Crying at the pickleball court because all I want to do is play with my family. Forcing sugar down my throat when I just ate and do not want it - but I have to. Diabetes is not for the faint of heart or mind. I feel so blessed for the new technologies and medicine that make the disease SO much more manageable and, yet, I pray every day for more. More research. More knowledge. More awareness. Happy World Diabetes Day! I always love when people ask me about my diabetes. What’s that on your arm? What is that machine for? Did that hurt? Did you eat too much sugar when you were a baby? What in the world is THAT? These questions give me an opportunity to bring awareness and knowledge of Type 1 diabetes. So, to all the people who have asked me this question, here ya go. (And no, I didn’t eat too much sugar as a baby.) #worlddiabetesday Xo. Important Safety Information Afrezza® (insulin human) Inhalation Powder may cause serious side effects, including sudden lung problems, low blood sugar, decreased lung function, lung cancer, diabetic ketoacidosis, severe allergic reaction, low potassium in your blood and heart failure. Some of these side effects may lead to death. The most common side effects are low blood sugar, cough, and sore throat. Do not use AFREZZA if you have long-term lung problems such as asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. AFREZZA is not for use in place of long-acting insulin.
