Chelsea fans, firstly thank you! We won the Champions League together, made a bond like I’d never have imagined and I met brothers for life on and off the pitch here. You helped me through the tough times, injuries, personal life, and gave me the best moments of my life. I’ll never be able to thank you guys enough, looking forward to showing everyone my best 😊see you soon. Chilly 💙
Joining Chelsea was such a proud day for me, for my family. It's a club that obviously growing up saw them winning trophies year on year out. Fortunately, I've been able to achieve that and I've been able to play in massive games. I think the Champions League final obviously stands out as one of the proudest days that I've had in football, if not the
It’s time to Create the Space for mental health in football. The pitch is a place to express yourself – but away from the field it’s not always so easy. Introducing…Create the Space: an athlete-led, action-based movement that will create space at all levels of football for everyone to express themselves off the pitch as well as on it. We can all play an active role in creating a supportive culture within football. So look around, be a champion; for yourself, for your teammates, for your community. #CreateTheSpace
Football is a space to express yourself. Away from the pitch, it's not always as easy to be our true selves. But you're not alone, because this is a team game.
As it is Mental Health Awareness Week, I was very lucky to have the opportunity to sit down with @skysportspatd recently and talk about my personal journey with mental health. It was very important to be as honest as I could. Particularly over the past few years with a few big setbacks and having started talking to a life coach, I feel I have a responsibility to share how beneficial this has been and why it is not a weakness. It is in fact the opposite and helped me so much. I would encourage everyone to speak about their mental health. Nobody is alone. Mental Health Matters. Chilly ❤️
On Tuesday I had the pleasure of visiting the Queen Mary University in London to see first hand the work that Shay’s Smiles has funded into high grade brain tumour research. As you may have seen I have been Patron of Shay’s Smiles for the past few years helping raise awareness. More children and adults under 40 die from a brain tumour than any other cancer yet research is critically underfunded. Shay’s Smiles have funded a PhD student Niamh for the past 4 years at Brain Tumour Research’s Centre of Excellence at QML and it was great to meet her and be shown around the lab. The work that she has been doing is mind blowing and her research is one step closer to understanding the way these tumours can be targeted to hopefully open up treatment options. Still lots of work to do but i al proud to be a part of Shay’s Smiles as they strive to make a difference to outcomes for children diagnosed with these tumours 💙
